Send your first document
A five-minute walkthrough from a blank dashboard to a signed agreement.
1. Bring in a document
From Envelopes, choose New envelope. You can:
- upload a PDF, Word (.docx) or plain text (.txt) file — up to 50 MB each, up to
10 documents in one envelope. Word and text are converted to PDF automatically.
- paste a share link from Google Drive, Google Docs, Dropbox or OneDrive
- start from a template or the 61-document gallery
- write one from scratch in the browser editor
An "envelope" is the whole package: the documents, the people, the fields and the audit trail. It is the thing that gets signed, tracked and sealed.
2. Add the people
Give each recipient a name and email, then pick a role:
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Signer | Fills fields and signs |
| Approver | Approves without signing |
| Witness | Signs after the people they witness |
| CC | Receives the finished copy only |
Set the routing order to control sequence. Give two people the same number and they receive it at the same time; give them 1 and 2 and the second is invited only after the first finishes.
3. Place the fields
Drag a signature field onto the page and drop it where it belongs. Assign it to a recipient — each one gets their own colour, so it's obvious at a glance who does what. Mark fields required if the document can't be completed without them.
4. Send
Add a message if you like, set an expiry, and send. Each signer gets their own private link. Nobody has to create an account.
5. Watch it move
The envelope page shows exactly where things stand — who has opened it, who has signed, who hasn't. You can nudge anyone with a reminder, and if you made a mistake you can correct it without starting over.
