Every field type, and when to use it
All fifteen field types explained, with the rules each one enforces.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Signature | The main signing act. Typed, drawn or uploaded. |
| Initials | A short mark, usually one per page. |
| Draw | Freehand — diagrams, marks on a plan, corrections. |
| Stamp | A company seal or round stamp from your managed library. |
| Text | Free text, with optional validation and a character limit. |
| Date | A date, formatted consistently. Can auto-fill the signing date. |
| Checkbox | A single yes/no. |
| Radio | One choice from a group. |
| Dropdown | One choice from a longer list. |
| Formula | A calculated value derived from other fields. |
| Attachment | Requires the signer to upload a file — PAN, licence, proof. |
| Payment | Collects money at signing time via UPI or Razorpay. |
Assigning fields
Every field belongs to exactly one recipient. Each recipient has a colour, so you can see at a glance who is responsible for what. A field assigned to someone who is skipped by conditional routing is skipped with them.
Required vs optional
A required field must be completed before the signer can finish. The signing page counts them and won't let anyone submit an incomplete document.
Read-only and prefill
Set a value in advance and mark the field read-only when you want the signer to see information but not change it — a quoted price, a policy number, an employee ID.
Attachments
An attachment field validates the upload and appends it to the final sealed PDF, so the proof travels with the agreement rather than sitting in someone's inbox.
