Correcting an envelope you've already sent
Fix a wrong email address, extend a deadline or adjust fields without voiding and starting over.
You sent it to rahul@acme.co instead of rahul@acme.com. Previously the only option was to void the envelope and start again, losing the signatures already collected. Now you can correct it in place.
What you can change
- a recipient's name or email, as long as they haven't signed yet
- the expiry date and the reminder cadence
- the message that accompanies the invitation
- field placement and labels for recipients who haven't signed
What you cannot change
- anything about a recipient who has already signed
- the documents themselves — changing the paper after someone has signed it would
invalidate what they agreed to
- the number of recipients or the routing order
If you need those, void the envelope and send a fresh one.
How to do it
Open the envelope and choose Correct. Make your changes and confirm. What happens next:
- the corrected recipient's old link stops working immediately
- a fresh invitation goes out to the new address
envelope.correctedis written into the audit trail, recording who corrected
what and when
Corrections are counted and shown on the envelope. An agreement that has been corrected three times tells a story, and the audit trail keeps that story honest rather than hiding it.
