Recipients, roles and signing order

Sequential, parallel and mixed routing, plus what each recipient role can do.

Roles

  • Signer — fills their fields and signs. The usual case.
  • Approver — records an approval without applying a signature. Useful for an

internal sign-off before the document goes out.

  • Witness — signs after the people they witness have signed. SignSpry holds

their invitation until then automatically.

  • CC — never signs. Receives the completed document and a copy of the audit trail.

Routing order

Each recipient has a number. Everyone on the same number is invited together; higher numbers wait for lower ones to finish.

  • 1, 1, 1 — everyone signs at once, in any sequence
  • 1, 2, 3 — a strict chain
  • 1, 1, 2 — two people in parallel, then a third once both are done

Signing groups

Give several people the same seat and any one of them can sign it. The moment one does, everyone else's link stops working. Good for "any director may sign" or a shared approvals inbox.

Delays between signers

You can hold a recipient back by a number of days after the previous stage completes — useful for a cooling-off period or a scheduled counter-signature.

Conditional recipients

A recipient can be skipped entirely based on what someone earlier filled in. If the contract value field is under ₹5,00,000, skip the second approver. The skip is recorded in the audit trail so the reason is on the record.

Use document visibility if some recipients shouldn't see every document in the envelope.
