Shared folders
Give the team visibility of each other's agreements without handing over control.
Folders organise envelopes. A shared folder is visible to the whole account.
What teammates can do
In a shared folder, someone who doesn't own an envelope can:
- see it and its current status
- read the audit trail
- download the signed PDF
- find it in repository search
They cannot send it, void it, correct it, or change anything about it. Ownership stays with the sender.
Why read-only
The alternative — everyone able to act on everything — makes the audit trail ambiguous about who did what. Keeping custody with one named person and visibility with everyone gives you both transparency and accountability.
If ownership genuinely needs to move, use custody transfer, which records the handover.
Create a folder per client or per matter rather than per person. Folders that mirror your org chart go stale the moment someone changes team.
