Sending on someone's behalf, and transferring custody
Let an assistant send as their director, and move every envelope off a departing employee.
Delegated sending
An assistant who sends contracts for a director shouldn't have to log in as them. Grant a delegation instead:
- Under Account → Delegation, add the person who may send on your behalf.
- When they compose an envelope, a Send as picker appears.
- The envelope belongs to you. The audit trail records that it was sent by them,
on your behalf.
That distinction is the point. The document is yours for ownership, reporting and retention; the record of who actually pressed send is preserved for accountability.
Revoke a delegation at any time — it stops applying immediately and does not affect envelopes already sent.
Bulk custody transfer
When someone leaves, their in-flight agreements shouldn't leave with them. An admin can open Admin → Users, choose the departing person, and transfer all envelopes to a colleague in one action.
Every transfer is written into each envelope's audit trail with both names, so the chain of custody stays complete. In-flight envelopes keep their signing links — signers see no disruption.
