GST invoices in India, export invoices abroad

What appears on your SignSpry tax invoice, how to add your GSTIN or tax ID, and how export invoices and the LUT work outside India.

Every payment you make produces a tax invoice. In India it is a GST invoice you can claim input credit on; abroad it is an export invoice in your own currency.

Find your invoices

Admins see them on Plan & billing → Tax invoices: one per charge, with number, date, description and total. Press PDF to open one. Each is also emailed to your billing email (or to your first admin if none is set). If an invoice isn't ready yet, the page says it is being prepared and will be emailed.

Invoice numbers look like PREFIX/2026-27/0001: a prefix, the Indian financial year (April to March) and a running number.

Add your tax ID first

Fill in Plan & billing → Invoice details before you pay: registered name, country, billing email, street address, city and postcode, and your tax ID. An invoice that has been issued can't have a tax ID added.

If you missed it, write to support@signspry.com with the invoice number. Invoices are never edited: the fix is a cancelled invoice plus a fresh one.

In India

  • The price excludes GST. GST at 18 % is shown separately on the invoice.
  • Your State (place of supply) decides the split: CGST + SGST when it matches the supplier's state, IGST otherwise. The state is taken from your GSTIN when you give one.
  • A GSTIN is 15 characters, like 22AAAAA0000A1Z5. The form rejects one that doesn't look right.
  • Without a GSTIN the invoice says "Unregistered (no GSTIN on file)".

Outside India

Supplying software to a customer abroad, paid in foreign currency, is an export of services. The invoice is in your currency and shows your name, address, tax ID, country and "Place of supply: outside India".

  • When SignSpry's Letter of Undertaking (LUT) applies, no Indian tax is charged. The invoice shows IGST as nil and reads "Supply meant for export under Letter of Undertaking without payment of IGST".
  • Otherwise IGST at 18 % is added at checkout and shown on the invoice, which reads "Supply meant for export on payment of IGST".

You don't have to guess which applies. Plan & billing states it before you pay ("IGST at 18% is added at checkout" or "No Indian GST is charged"), and the invoice repeats it.

Export invoices also show the amount in words in your currency and the rupee value as converted by the processing bank on the payment date.

VAT and other local taxes

SignSpry doesn't collect VAT or sales tax for any other country. Any tax due in your own country, such as VAT under the reverse charge, is yours to account for. For a ruling on your situation, ask your accountant.

If a refund is approved where GST was charged, the refund includes the proportionate GST and a credit note is issued. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
