Which emails SignSpry sends you, and switching some off

Product tips, the Monday summary and usage notices can be switched off; signing emails, receipts and security notices always arrive.

You can switch off three kinds of optional email from your own account: product tips and plan offers, the Monday summary, and envelope usage notices. Everything else SignSpry sends is part of the service and always arrives.

Where to change them

  1. Open the account menu (your avatar, top right) and choose Password & 2FA.
  2. Scroll to the Email preferences card.
  3. Tick or untick a box. Each change is saved as soon as you click it.

You can also use the Email preferences or Choose which emails you get link at the bottom of any tips, trial, usage or summary email. That link opens a page called "Which emails would you like?" without asking you to sign in, so it works from your phone in one tap. Change the boxes, then press Save preferences.

The three switches

SwitchWhat it isDefault
Product tips and plan offersWhat paid plans add. Never more than one email every 10 days.On
Monday summaryLast week's sends and completions, and who you are still waiting on. Skipped on quiet weeks, when nothing was sent, signed or waiting. On
Envelope usage noticesOne note when you have used most of the month's envelopes, and one when they are gone.On

Usage notices go to the admins of an organisation, so a member who is not an admin will not see one even with the box ticked. For admins, the Monday summary covers the whole team rather than just their own envelopes.

What you cannot switch off

The page says it plainly: signing emails, reminders, receipts, invoices and security notices are always sent. That includes:

  • signing invitations, reminders and completed copies
  • receipts and tax invoices
  • security notices, such as a password change or a backup code being used
  • account changes

These are the service itself. If a signing invitation could be switched off, nobody could sign. For a full list of what is sent and when, see Every email SignSpry sends.

Unsubscribing from a tips email

Every tips or offers email has an Unsubscribe from these emails link, and most mail apps show their own Unsubscribe button too. Opening the link shows a page with one button, Unsubscribe. Nothing changes until you press it, so link scanners that open every URL in an email cannot unsubscribe you by accident.

After you press it, the page says "You're unsubscribed". If you change your mind, press Changed your mind? Resubscribe on that page, or tick Product tips and plan offers again under Password & 2FA.

People you send documents to

Signers are never marketed to. The tips switch applies only to marketing mail, and signers' invitations, reminders and completed copies are sent because you asked SignSpry to send the envelope.

If one of your signers says an email never reached them, that is not a preference setting. See The signer says no email arrived.
